15.05.2018 - Everest Update
Stalled in Camp 3. The team are preparing to spend a second night in their least favourite camp. Along with about 30-40 climbers from other groups they set out for Camp 4 on the South Col after 08.00. However, it soon became clear that the weather was a lot worse than forecast. After 3 hours in strong winds and driving snow they returned to Camp 3. If the weather allows they will try again for Camp 4 tomorrow.
14.05.2018 - Everest Update
Very exciting news - the strong winds whipping around the peak of Everest have FINALLY died down, and Steve Graham has begun his ascent to the summit!
One member of the team has already turned back, but Steve is pressing on towards the top of the world.
He is currently resting at Camp 3, before trekking to Camp 4, where they will rest before starting for the final push to the peak in the dark, before the sun rises.
If all goes to plan, he expects to summit tomorrow! I’m sure you join me in wishing Steve the best for this last and hardest part of his amazing expedition, and thank you once again for being a part of it! I will update you again tomorrow, hopefully with some even more exciting news!
03.05.2018 - Everest Update
Over the last few days Steve’s team have been busy training for their summit bid, and acclimatising to the punishing condition on the mountain. Three times now, they have climbed through the dangerous Khumbu Icefall, 5,600m above sea level, which is infamous for sudden ice movement and unexpected avalanches. It was here that 16 Nepalese climbers lost their lives on 18th April 2014 in the 2014 Mount Everest Ice Avalanche. As a mark of respect, Steve’s team delayed their plans so as not to climb on the anniversary of this tragic event.
The team has so far made it to Camp 2 twice, which at time of writing is their current location. In the next few days, they hope to make it as far as Camp 3 or even Camp 4, now the Sherpas have opened the route for climbers.
The weather is expected to get worse at the start of May, so we wish Steve the best of luck. Hopefully the much-anticipated weather window will appear towards the end of May and allow him to try for the peak!
As always, thanks for all you’ve done to support Steve and the Hospice.
30.04.2018 - World War 2 Day

23.04.2018 - Go Run for Fun!
All the children in Key Stage Two and Year Two took part in a running challenge – Go Run for Fun. Everyone had to complete the circuit around the perimeter of the school field, as many times they could in twenty minutes. It was a fantastic event with many class teachers also taking part. Can you spot yourself?
23.03.2018 - Safety Carousel
Year 6 visited the Safety Carousel on Friday where they learnt about different aspects of safety including fire safety, first aid, water safety and road safety. They had a brilliant day out and have gained lots of knowledge!
